We got a call yesterday for a showing of our house. Luckily, we knew about it from our realtor in advance so we were able to get the house back in tip top shape. It's really hard to stay motivated to keep the house so clean when no one wants to come see it! But, now that's it is back to looking good, hopefully we can keep it that way! Just in case!
Anyway, with 10 minutes notice, Brad took the dogs and rode around in the car until the showing was complete. They asked to extend the showing, and they ended up coming and staying for quite some time. Brad was parked down the street waiting and watching. He was there so long, he even got the cops called on him! I guess it makes me feel like we live in a safe neighborhood. :)
It was an older couple looking at the house. I found out today that they are recently married and the husband's son lives in the neighborhood with his kids, so the were looking to move into the neighborhood to be closer to the grandkids.
Yesterday afternoon, I got the feedback email from the realtor, and it just said "OFFER!!" Well my goodness!! We got so excited! Our realtor told us to be hesitantly optimistic, but anything could happen. The buyers were going to meet again in the morning to write up the offer. Usually when this happens, it seems like something usually comes up. And sure enough, it did.
Turns out, the wife had cold feet and decided to call off the house hunt all together. We were obviously disappointed, but it is good to know that our house shows so well to get them to consider putting an offer in. Now, it just makes us a little more hungry for showings! We've always thought that if we could get people in the house, we can sell it!
After talking with the realtor today, it looks like we might look into lowering our price a bit. Right now, in our zip code, each listing in our price range has had an average of 1.5 showings for the whole month. if we lower that by$2500, we could have an average of almost 3. So, we just need to figure out if we're willing to go lower already. August and September are just slow months. Hopefully we can get something. Maybe this couple will change their minds! :) (I can only hope!)
